Home Safe and Sound

Here Lenny and I are at the Meteor Crater outside of Winslow Arizona... Ole Lenny was trying
to give me bunny ears but because of his bummed shoulder gave a "Rock On" sign:) Good ole
Lenny:) We had a wonderful time and I learned so much about the Native Americans... I will  be
posting the AMAZING beaded jewelery I purchased for my online store, though the items are new
the craftsmanship is ages old and so beautiful... Don't let the sunny skies fool you, it was about 40ish out.. brrr!!!!
I am getting ready for my last show of the year. It is The Little French Flea Market in Tarzana on Dec 4th..
I have found so many wonderful sweet treasures for my darling customers....

Have a happy safe last day of November 2010

My dad Lenny and I are on our adventure!!! Our first day consisted of 5 hours of driving from Ventura Ca to Laughlin Nevada. He was not to happy because I had him sit in a wheelchair in the hotel loddy to the room.. (which was a very long walk).. The whole time in the wheelchair.. Lenny: honey you treat me like a child.. Me: dad you get tired and then you get unsteady on your feet and then you fall., Lenny: well I can walk, Me: ok dad. ... We went down to the casino... oh and if you have never been to Laughlin.. well it has lets see 6 or 7 casino's/hotels the Colorado River runs between Laughlin and Bull Head City Arizona. Its in the middle of nowhere it is ALWAYS windy and I mean windy like 40 mph winds. In the summer its in the 100's and it feels like a huge blow dryer is on you and in the winter it is freezing cold and a whipping wind!!! It was the half way mark for us to stop:) Plus Lenny got to gamble:) He won $88.50 and I won $150 on the penny machine!! As I wheeled him to the lobby in the morning he said hey this wheelchair isnt so bad.. and that would of been along walk honey:) Your welcome daddyo

Day 2
consist of us driving and Lenny asking a million times how much longer...:) He says payback from when I was a child:):) Lenny not feeling to well today so I was looking forward to getting to the cabin so he can rest... We are headed to the Cocnino's Mountains by Happy Jack... Hey I am not making up the names... Got to the cabin very cold out it is an amazing cabin.. Friends of ours letting us use it...

Day 3
Well it's still early Lenny still sleeping... We are suppose to go geo and metor hunting.. We'll see how he feels today:) I am hoping to find some wonderful treasures here in Arizona for my shop...

Cheers for now

Juanita

P.S Lenny did fall coming up the stairs at the cabin:( He has a bad habit of falling usually in a parking lot, side walks, front yard, back yard).. actually he is not too picky as to where he falls..

Recycling

Above are 2 sweet children's chairs a before and after picture... It is amazing what a little paint can do to give a little life back to something that was going to be thrown away. They are in great shape and very sturdy. From what I was told they are from a Sunday school room and were used in the late 1950's till recently... Paired up with this little white table I am hoping there will be tea parties and lots of fun..

With just a little bit of effort and a little paint these old chairs have new life. It got me thinking about how much "stuff" we just throw away without really thinking about it. I really try to recycle as much as I can. From donating clothing that is still in good shape to the homeless shelter to taking old batteries into the recycling center. There are so many things one can recycle... Here are a few ideas:

1.Old eye glasses many eye doctors offices take them  put new lenses in for people who can't afford new ones.
2. Cell phones, there are many organizations my favorite one is Komen for the Cure.. This benefits research for breast cancer, to learn more go to www.connecttothecure.com
3. Take old towels, blankets and newspapers to your local animal shelters, they are always needing these.
So before you throw away "stuff" check to see if you can donate, it can help save lives, give the gift of eye sight and help abandon animals and last but not least help our earth by not filling up landfills..
I would to hear from you all on your recycling efforts:)
Cheers for now

Little French Flea Market

As I have said before fall has always been my favorite time of the year... I make homemade soups, chicken and dumplings and I bake and bake and bake:) Cozier comforters come out of the closet, hot chocolate and fires in the fireplace, I feel as if I am feathering my little nest for the foggy cooler nights to come.

This is just a peek of my booth at The Little French Flea Market in Tarzana Ca. The day started out very wet and cold... but by the end of the day the sun was finally out... Thank goodness!!! This event was held at the Tarzana Cultural Center which is a lovely little park in the middle of the hustle and bustle of this little city in the valley and is actually named after Tarzan from the old movies. This was the first Little French Flea Market held here.

I met so many lovely vendors and customers:) My booth was looking a little bare at this point... I found many new homes for the sweet little treasures I had. Though it was a very long day it was a lot of fun... Oh and of coarse I had to buy some new treasures for my little nest:)

Thanks for stopping by....

Sweet Nature

I went out to my garden to take a picture of my garden and all of a sudden I heard the
humming of a Hummingbird. I hope you all can see the refection of the Hummingbird on my bird feeder.
It was a perfect split second, after I took the picture the Hummingbird came right up to me as to say did
you get the picture?? It is one of those moments that do not always come along when you have a camera:)

Today has been very cool and overcast with an occasional sprinkle.... Not good at all for all the painting
I have to do before next Saturday!!!! It is so damp out I might have to start painting my sweet little
treasures in the family room..... Its coming down to crunch time for the The Little French Flea Market!!
Last Saturday it was so hot that it was too hot to paint!!! Such odd weather for my sweet little town
by the seashore!!

Thanks for dropping by and spending a little time with me:)

Fall

Fall has arrived here...Well at least our fall as it is here in Ventura....
I have been passing this mailbox for 3 years now as I drive home from Lake Casitas where I row
and I finally remembered to bring my camera to take a picture:)
I love the color of the mailbox well what is left of the color:) It reminds me of Robin egg blue.

I have been very busy getting ready for The Little French Flea Market. It is on Saturday October 23rd in Tarzana Ca. I am so excited to be part of this show!!! I need some days that are not as wet as we have been having and just a little sun so I can finish all the painting... I found some REALLY sweet items..
I am still working on my online store, it will be very very soon!!!

Cheers for now:)

September Ending

Well tomorrow is the last day of September... This is our little Maxie and his great granddaddy, my dad Lenny. As I said before September and October are usually great beach months... Though this year the last few days have been unusually hot!!! The last few days we have gone down for an evening walk and the two of them stopped to count the sun setting:) (something my dad would do with me when I was a little girl)
I just love love this moment between the 2 of them.... soooo sweet

I sold at the Ventura Flea Market on Sunday, I meant to bring my camera but forget:( I guess it did not really matter because I was crazy busy selling!!! I was with my 2 friends, Karine and Lenola we had a blast!!! I was hoping to take pictures for my online store but sold everything... I am not complaining at all:)  Now I have to go shop some more:) Bigger news for me was I got asked to sell at the Little French Market Flea Market in Tarzana the endof October... Which is super exciting for me!!!! I will keep all posted.....

Sweet Pink

I think Pink Milk Glass is beautiful!!! Though it is hard to find ever once in a while you will come across a piece. My dear friend Karine seems to find it better than me, which really works out well for me since she only collects the white milk glass and she gives me all the pink she finds!!! Lucky me:) Oh and by the way I love love pink everything... The large pink bowl I found downtown Ventura and probably paid too much for it but I loved the uniqueness of it and it was in perfect condition no clips or cracks!!! The roses are from my David Austin rose bushes, what I love about them is that the roses look like a Peony, another favorite flower
of mine.

Things have finally settled down with my son just getting out of the hospital. I am FINALLY finishing my online store. It is taking forever but I had to get my credit card system tied into the one I have now and blah blah blah... it is just taking forever, but it will be up and running this week they (credit card company) promised me...

it is a beautiful day...finally a blue sky and the sun is nice and warm, I think my little Maxie and I will go explore the beach today and see what wonderful treasures we can find:)

Sweet Sweet Peas

One of my most favorite flower is the Sweet Pea, the colors, the scent .... are just so perfect!!! These will be the last of the season, I had found an old seed pack and just threw them out and was very pleased when I saw them blooming... and surprised since we have had a very cool summer.  My sweet little grandson Maxie was so thrilled when we found the flowers.. He has helped grow some very large zucchinis and his pumpkin's are coming along very nicely!! When the pumkins were still very small we scratched his name on them and as the pumkin grows so does  his name, he is actually very amazed by this:)

My little blue knobby glass pitcher is perfect for a few of the Sweet Pea's, they brighten up a room. And of coarse I have my sweet little birds... Which by the way if you didn't know it I love love little birds and SPARKLES!!! I found this huge jar of German glass glitter and I am parting with some of it. I found these darling salt and pepper shakers and I thought what could be more perfect for my glitter!!!

The 17th of September is just a few days away and I am working hard to get my online shop up and running!!!

Cheers for now

Here are a few more sweet items that will be available on my website.. Which by the way is only 2 days away from going on line!!!! Just in case you were wondering:)
The wonderful iron plant holders I found at an estate sale on Coronado, which is just a short ride over a very high bridge from San Diego. Its so amazing when you come into this sweet town, its like you go back in time. There are wonderful California Craftman homes, old Victorians and a beautiful hotel named Hotel del Coronado. Lots of shops... One of my favorites is The Attic, so many sweet sweet things to choose from.. The owners are so nice they make shopping very fun....
I think every garden could use a little friend here or there. I love love this sweet little duck and the sleepy dove... just a few more of the items that will be on my website....

Labor Day marks the "official end of summer" though here in
my lovely little corner of the world
begins 2 months of warm sunny beach days. The tourist
have all gone home and our sleepy little beach town gets a little less crowded.
Life seems to slow down a little bit more.......

Here are some of the items that will be on my website, which by the
way is only 3 days away from going online!!!!!!
I am carrying many different items, something for everyone..

The card line I carry is from Papaya Art, their cards are so sweet and
they have a little sparkle!!! Then there are my little birds,
I love love these darling little birds!! They are  vintage and many of them
are  made in Germany, then there are the little rose placecard
holders, again one of my many
favs.......

The jewelry I have on displayed is all handcrafted by a local artist... I have
lots and lots of silver flatware that is a bit of this and a bit of that, I don't
think that everything has to match:)
